SAVAGE THUNDER by Floridawn Lewis - CHAPTER 5

It was still pouring rain as April wiped the tears away from her mascara-smeared eyes with the last of the tissues in the package. She rustled around in the console that sat between the two bucket seats of her vehicle to find more tissue to dab at her eyes and to blow her nose. She came across the tissue, but she had also found a jingle bell that used to hang from her rear view mirror in the car she used to own before. She picked the jingle bell up and shook it.
Jingle-jingle-jingle.
The sound brought her back to when she received the bell that had been attached to the very first Christmas gift Marc ever gave to her. As she wiped away the black smudge from underneath her eyes, she reminisced about the 1996 Christmas scenario starring her not-yet-husband and herself, as she continued to sit in her car.

NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE—DECEMBER 25, 1996
Knock-knock-knock. Ring-ring-ring.

Marc then handed her the rainbow chocolates in a red heart box similar to the ones he had given to her countless other times in the six months he had been pursuing her, except this time a jingle bell was attached to the top of the box secured with a white ribbon.
